Why - Provide a Montessori learning environment where children will develop a love for learning
How - Child Led Learning, Developing Mastery, Encouraging Self Discovery, Inspire Compassionate Change Makers
What - Create a community of kind, self driven innovators who have the skills and confidence to explore their life passions
Mastery - Mastery enables students to move forward at their own pace as they gain a comprehensive knowledge or skills in a subject or accomplishment.
Child-Led Learning - The foundation of child led learning is the idea that the school should not be the sole decision-maker when it comes to the direction of learning, and that it should collaborate with the students themselves to discover the ideas that are captivating them at a particular point in time and extending that interest into a series of positive learning opportunities.
Socratic Learning - The Socratic method is a form of cooperative dialogue between individuals, based on asking and answering questions. Through this method, learners actively engage in learning.
Project Based Learning - Project based learning is a dynamic approach in which student actively explore real world problems or challenges and acquire a deep knowledge and understanding. Project based learning requires critical thinking, problem solving, collaboration, and various forms of communication.
Year Round, One Room Schoolhouse - Cornerstone Schoolhouse offers year-round schooling which is a first of its kind in Huron County. Year-round schooling allows students and teachers an opportunity to rest, reflect, and reset without losing ground in their learning. Our modern approach to the one room schoolhouse offers small, mixed ages classes, allowing students to learn from their peers, encouraging leadership development and individualizing learning.
Small Class Sizes - Our leaner to Guide ratio is 1:10. This allows the Guide time to focus and work with each child individually. Introducing new material to the children when they are ready.
"The greatest gifts we can give our children are the roots of responsibility and the wings of independence."
